The freedoms we enjoy do not come free. They were bought with the dearest price men could pay, with their blood, sweat, treasure, and tears. On this Memorial Day it is fitting that we remember their sacrifice with grateful hearts. Most of them did not seek the battles which took their lives, but fought, not out of love of war, but out of love for those whom they defended.
And so, on this solemn day I share with you a quote from Strom Glyre in Truesilver. Though he was not a warrior from history, his words honor and reflect the fighting spirit of so many who paid the ultimate price to protect what they loved.

Where evil stalks, those of good will must gather to oppose it. But those who least seek battle may be the better to meet it. For they fight not for riches or power, but for love of those they hold dear, for those who guard the hearth and keep its fires burning until their return.
