“A house without books is like a room without windows.”
Horace Mann
The more I read and muck about with words, the most amazed I am by the simple act of printed pages, bound in lovely tomes. The profundity of the fact that the weight of worlds sits on my shelves is not lost upon me. What a privilege to walk in the footsteps of other minds, of other lives, and see through their eyes.
If you are privileged enough to own enough books to fill a shelf or two, be thankful. They have not always been so plentiful, accessible, and economical as they are today in many parts of the world. You have more windows in your home than the most fabulous cathedral in Europe. Only they are windows of the mind, windows of imagination.
May your home be filled with books!
Well said!
