Cover Reveal for Orb and the Airship by Jenelle Schmidt

I have something momentous to share with you today. My friend and fellow fantasy author, Jenelle Schmidt, has shared with me the cover for her upcoming book, The Orb and the Airship, set to release on June 16, 2023.

Jenelle has been working on this book for a long time, and not only this book, but four others which go along with it as part of the Turrim Archive series. She actually has all five books written and plans to release them rapidly over a short period of time. This means that you don’t have to wait ages and ages for the next book in the series (like with certain other authors who shall go unnamed).

I admire her patience in keeping the entire series under wraps for so long. And she’s somehow managed to write a couple of other books while working on this series, one unreleased and the other An Echo of the Fae, an award-winning fantasy novel which I highly recommend.

But today, it’s all about The Orb and the Airship, so here’s a quick summary of what it’s all about.

The Orb and the Airship

A rogue airship captain. An ambitious youth. A clash of powers beyond their imagination.

With scholarships to a prestigious military school, Grayden and Wynn are thirsty for adventure. But the night before they leave, they discover the mysterious Dalmir and his arcane orb in the forsaken tower outside of town. The old man, who seems to have a wealth of knowledge of what came before and yet so little of the now, insists on accompanying them as they travel to the academy.

Meanwhile, all pirate Captain Marik wants is to keep to the skies, take his due, and care for his crew. Then a straightforward pillaging mission on a ship of fresh academy students leads to betrayal from one of his own and an unlikely friendship forged by necessity.

Yet this new alliance stirs up ancient foes and a conflict too terrible to ignore. Despite Grayden’s inexperience and Marik’s skepticism, working together with Dalmir is their only option.

The fate of the world depends on it.

A clean steampunk fantasy adventure filled with steadfast friendship, brotherhood, twisty politics, and epic airship battles.

First in the Turrim Archive series:

The Orb and the Airship
Mantles of Oak and Iron
Hearts of Stone and Steel
The Prisoner and the Pirate
Towers of Might and Memory

Cover reveal

And now that you are suitably excited by what sounds like a rollicking tale, how about we take a gander at the cover?

Isn’t she a beauty? I love covers like this with the monochrome, old-fashioned borders and flourishes. As someone who takes a great deal of pride and interest in my own covers, I think Savannah Jezowski, her cover designer, hit this one out of the park.

Kickstarter Campaign

The release date, June 16th, is not far, but it’s still a few months away. However, for this series, Jenelle is actually launching a Kickstarter campaign for those who want to get the books early.

I’m not sure what rewards she’ll offer for the campaign, but it’s definitely something I’d recommend you check out.

The campaign does not launch until February 20th, but you can get notified as soon as it does by clicking this button:

Set sail for adventure

Can you feel those fresh winds blowing? Can you smell the scent they bring? That’s the smell of adventure and of battle and of a new world just waiting to be discovered.

And you can be a part of the launch of this brand new series. Who knows where it will take us, but I’m sure ready to go along for the ride.

I hope you’ll join me.
